The US Congress was informed about transnational repression organized by the Lukashenko regime. Our country is mentioned in a special report, which Euroradio has reviewed.
The report, dated July 15, was prepared by the Congressional Research Service. It describes the situation regarding transnational repression worldwide, with Belarus listed among the top 10 countries that most frequently employ such practices.
This is significant primarily because an internal Congressional document has emerged that raises the issue. Additionally, several pieces of legislation are currently under consideration that, to varying degrees, address the topic of transnational repression and how the US should respond to it.
The document was received by the offices of all members of Congress and senators, as well as by executive branch agencies.
The cross-border crimes of the Lukashenko regime are currently being investigated by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
