On the night of June 15, Russians launched 70 missiles and 611 drones at Ukraine. The main strike hit Kyiv — at least four civilians were killed there, and another 30 were injured.

During the raid, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was damaged. A fire broke out, but the monks managed to save icons and other sacred items. The fire started on the roof of the Dormition Cathedral, covering an area of about 800 sq.m, reports hromadske.ua.

"Every damage inflicted on this place is a painful loss not only for believers, but for all people who recognise the importance of spiritual, cultural and historical heritage for future generations," — commented the Deputy Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra of the OCU, Bishop Avraamy.

"When the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra comes under attack, it is not only about Ukraine. It is about heritage that belongs to all of humanity. We call on the world community to increase pressure on Russia, which continues to deliberately attack Ukrainians and the world's cultural heritage!" — stated Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhnа.
