Parliamentary elections taking place in Kyrgyzstan

Voting at the elections of the new Parliament has started today in Kyrgyzstan, informs BELTA with a reference to informational agencies. According to the Central Election Commission, about 2 300 electoral districts have opened today at 8 a.m local time and will work till 8 p.m. According to the new legislation there is no such concept as voter turnout, so the elections will be considered in force dependless on the quantity of people who would come to vote. Approximately 2 million 850 thousand people have the right to vote in Kyrgyzstan. 29 parties contend for 120 places in the new Parliament. In order to get to the Supreme Council they need to surpass the 5% barrier, and also to gain no less than 0,5% of the votes.

The preliminary results of the elections will be announced within 2-3 days, after receiving of all the protocols from the election commissions, including those located in hardly available mountaineous districts.
