Ukraine, "against the backdrop of the threat" from Belarus, feels the need to create new brigades to guarantee the repulsion of a possible offensive. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with LIGA.net.
He referred to data from Ukrainian intelligence, which reports increased Russian pressure on Minsk. In this regard, Ukrainian border guards do not rule out possible provocations or even a new invasion from Belarusian territory.
According to Syrskyi, with an offensive from the northern direction, the Russians want to compensate for the lack of success on the main fronts. As a result, according to him, the length of the active front line could increase by 160 km.
Official Minsk has been supporting Russia in its aggression against Ukraine since the very beginning of the full-scale war — from February 2022. The attack was launched, in part, from Belarusian territory.
